Icon Post Formatter Version Two
Updated the Icon Post Formatter, and the new version can be found here. Changes: - You no longer need to put a comma after each url; just press the return key. - Added the option of putting a zero before numbers one through nine. Just check the 'Alternate numbering scheme' box. - Added the option of placing line breaks after a set number of icons. The older version of the script will still be available for those who prefer to use that instead. Because of the delimiter changes (pressing the return key after each url instead of the comma), I'm not one hundred percent certain that the script will work correctly on Macs. If Mac users could let me know how it works for them, it would be much appreciated. And, as always, feel free to ask any questions or make suggestions for the next version of the script. | | Sunday, February 20th, 2005 | | 2:53 am |
Component Customization Tutorial Background & Banner Graphics/ Custom Width/ Centering/ No Title Component/ Creating a Layer/ CSS While this particular tutorial concentrates on putting a banner & background image on your journal, it also serves as a basic tutorial on customizing Component in general. In other words, even if you aren't remotely interested in having a banner or a background graphic on your journal, if you're new to customizing Component, then I would strongly recommend reading this anyway, as the basic information given here will not be repeated in my other tutorials. A Disclaimer, of Sorts: When I first started to tinker with the Component layout, I used the tutorials over at component_help exclusively. Meaning that the code used in these tutorials, for the most part, was worked out by people other than myself, and that at times, I have taken code from tutorials and reworked it to make my own tutorials. I'm not trying to take credit for anything, but what I'm attempting to do is offer tutorials that are as simple as possible, so that people who aren't the best at coding can still figure it all out. CSS 101
This discusses the most basic CSS tags, and general formatting/syntax, and such. It's by no means a complete list of CSS tags, but it should be a good starting place for people who are completely new to CSS. ( Read more... ) | | 4:15 pm |
CSS 99
This doesn't actually cover CSS tags, so much as what type of stylesheet to use and where to place your CSS. ( CSS Basics ) | | 3:58 pm |
HTML 101
Actually, it's more like XHTML 101. It's basically the same thing. The main difference (and really, the only one that matters) between the two is that XHTML is more exact. It's case-sensitive. Meaning that when you code in XHTML, you have to be *exact*. Which is a pain, yes, but it does guarantee that your page will show up exactly the way you want it to, regardless of which browser it's viewed in. Also, there's really no excuse for sloppy coding. It just leaves room for mistakes to be made, which you'll have to go back and find and fix later. So, XHTML. This tutorial will show the basic structures of a page, and how to set up the beginnings of a page from scratch. More importantly, I'm going to try to show *what* each individual component is (as in what it does), and why it's important. ( Read more... ) |
